According to The WHO, Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness globally.
The WHO also reported that at present over 8 million people are bilaterally blind due to glaucoma, a figure that is set to rise to over 11 million by 2020 with the increasing prevalence, unless improved screening and effective treatment strategies are successful.
As a leader in the field of Tonometry and with a heritage of producing high quality tonometers, we at Keeler believe we play a pivotal role in the detection of Glaucoma by producing the highest quality products at affordable prices for all clinicians throughout the world.
Keeler’s latest Tonometer was designed to consider all the different environments clinicians face all over the world. The long-lasting battery, compact design and the portability of the device enables it to be used in a small practise room, domiciliary use or even large scale screening programs. However, our key targets which we believe will play a pivotal role in increasing detection rates of Glaucoma were: -
Accuracy:
The Tonocare has been through a rigorous testing protocol to compare closely to GAT. The heavy investment into the dynamic puff control enable the tonometer to produce accurate and consistent measurements which in turn will enable users to confidently monitor changes in IOP over time.
Affordability:
Our aim was to ensure all clinicians all over the world could afford to use the device with little burdening costs on either their practise or the patient, inherently this would ensure detection of the second leading cause blindness to increase.

• Usage cost
The Tonocare makes use of no consumables which means no sterile consumables are required, keeping ongoing costs to a minimum.
• Accuracy
The Tonocare was clinically compared to the GAT and testing showed that the Tonocare is comparable, consistent and repeatable.
• Ease of use
The Tonocare makes use of an intuitive head up display which enables you to be in the right position during every measurement to ensure accurate measurements.
• Speed of use
Tonocare is ready to use in less than 10 seconds after being switched on; readings for both eyes can be achieved in 30 seconds.
• Patient comfort
Keeler’s most portable NCT allows measurements to be taken wherever the patient is most comfortable; whatever environment they are in.

- Does the Tonocare measure Central Corneal Thickness (CCT)?
No, the Tonocare does not measure CCT but it is able to automatically compensate for a known CCT.
- How long does a single charge last?
The Tonocare will last at least a full day of use.
- Can the Tonocare be used for domiciliary use?
Yes, the Tonocare is Keeler's most portable tonometer ever and is perfect for domiciliary use. We often find users take the Tonocare from visit to visit or from room to room without the need of the dock or charging kit.
- How does the Tonocare compare to the GAT?
The Tonocare was clinically compared to the GAT and testing showed that the Tonocare is comparable, consistent and repeatable.
- Can you mount the Tonocare on a wall and how much space does the device take up?
The Tonocare kit comes with its own docking station which can be mounted on a wall and charges the device. The dock and Tonocare have a small footprint and perfect for a small clinical environment, 160 x 180 x 150mm (H x D x W). - Does the Tonocare require any ongoing consumables?
No, the Tonocare requires no consumables to operate. However, you may need to buy a reel of paper for the printer every so often.
- Can I connect the Tonocare to my PC?
Yes, you can download the Tonocare Connect software from the Tonocare webpage which allows you to download IOP readings to your PC and then generate a report for your documentation.
- How often will I need to calibrate my Tonocare?
We recommend a yearly service from your local distributor, but you can conduct a self-check through the menu, the self-check function will tell you if your Tonocare is performing to the standard we expect.
- How does the Tonocare puff strength compare to conventional NCT's?
A significant amount of engineering effort has taken place to ensure a consistently soft puff. The Tonocare is changing the way we screen for Glaucoma with soft puff's and more reliable measurements. - Can I use my Keeler power supply with the Tonocare?
Yes, the Tonocare uses the same power supply which is used on all Keeler products.
